To celebrate the first Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED), the United Nations Foundation named the “Top 10 Women to Watch.” Among those who made the coveted list are Denise Abulafina, founder and CEO of Educatina—a Latin American educational website; and New York’s Ajaita Shah, founder and CEO of Frontier Markets–an India-based rural company that provides BOP villagers with access to clean-energy products. One particularly special business mind on the list was New York’s Cherae Robinson, founder and CEO of Rare Customs, a startup that “creates products, brands, and strategies that are shaping the future of travel to Africa,” according to the company’s website.

While indeed an honor, this is not the first time Robinson has been noted for her outstanding work in African travel. She won first place at the 2014 She Leads Africa Startup Competition, and after learning more of the company, it’s obvious as to why. With innovation and technology, Rare Customs shows and proves that it’s ready to compete with other global businesses, especially through their soon-to-launch Tastemakers Africa. Think of Tastemakers Africa as a digital travel guide for the “urban sophisticate” who’s ready to experience all the richness Africa has to offer.

It is the world’s only mobile app and content site specifically designed to find everything from exclusive restaurants to the hottest nightclubs—all on the continent of Africa. Thanks to Cherae and her brilliant business savvy, travelers can now rely on Rare Customs as their first and final go-to in experiencing the true beauty of Africa.
