QuickBooks Connect Chicago, to be held Thursday, July 16, intends to help arm small businesses – including entrepreneurs and self-employed workers, accountants and developers – with the tools and resources they need to not only succeed but thrive. The one-day conference will consist of multiple interactive sessions designed to inspire, educate and connect the Chicago small business community.

QuickBooks won’t be alone. The company is journeying to the Windy City with mobile payment and shopping platform partners Square and Bigcommerce in an effort to bring value and knowledge to the city’s diverse small business hub. In addition, QuickBooks has invited serial restaurant entrepreneur, New York Times best-selling author and reality show celebrity Bill Rancic to welcome attendees.  Jewel Burks, Partpic CEO and Google entrepreneur-in-residence, will also speak during Intuit’s breakout sessions, which will include lessons on financial fitness, finding customers online, and 5 Key Lessons for every Small Business.

Burks was a panelist at the Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Conference where she talked about the value of accelerators in helping startups get funding. Headquartered in Atlanta, her company, Partpic, is advised by Covello, a minority-owned collaborative that serves as a “disruptive innovation engine for corporations, start-ups and creatives. Partpic software allows users to locate replacement parts by sending pictures. Their visual search technology recognizes the parts and then alerts salespeople.

As an Entrepreneur in Residence at Google, Burks helps underserved business owners leverage the power of the web and learn how to use Google tools to grow their business online. The Howard University alum has worked as an analyst at Goldman Sachs & Co. and as an enterprise sales associate at Google.

Quickbooks Connect is not only for small businesses. App developers will get the opportunity to meet and network with other developers, accountants and small business owners, and engage Intuit Developer experts who can help speed their QuickBooks app integration and successful launch to the QuickBooks ecosystem.

Quickbooks Connect will be sponsored by Avalara, a leader in sales tax automation for businesses of any size. Its SaaS offers tax compliance services including tax calculation, exemption certificate management, returns processing, and 1099 filing and reporting.
