Want Free Theater Seating? Just Request ‘Tweet Seats’

For some theaters, tweeting during the show gives attendees free seats

Smartphone use is typically banned in theaters, but several venues are reserving seats for those willing to engage on Twitter during performances. Your compensation? Free seats.

Providence Performing Arts Center, Connecticut’s Norma Terris Theater, Raleigh’s Carolina Ballet, the Indianapolis Symphony, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Dayton Opera, among other community arts centers have debuted “tweet seats,” free seats for those live-tweeting a performance.

For the Providence Performing Arts Center and many other theaters, the special seats aim to engage theatergoers on social media, and build extra excitement for shows, Caitlyn DiPompo said to Mashable.
