Black Media in the White House

Derek T. Dingle Mar 30, 2009

On Feb. 9, I achieved the career milestone of interviewing President Barack Obama -- his first magazine Q&A. In the 15-minute phone interview, we talked about the prospects of his multi-prong economic agenda and his administration's plans to bolster small business. That same day, I had a seat in the East Room of the White [...]

Obama Pledges Persistence

Persistence. That’s the message that President Barack Obama ended with last night as he took a battery of questions from the press during his news conference on the economy.

Transcript: Q&A by Obama, Brown

BlackEnterprise.com Mar 3, 2009

President Barack Obama: Hello, everybody. Good to see you. Where are the Brits? They're over there.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown: In fact, they're everywhere. (Laughter.)
President Obama: Are they? They're spread out?
All right, my understanding is we're going to do four questions, and we'll just alternate. I'll start off with Jennifer Loven of AP.

Step Out In Style Inaugural Weekend

As Inauguration Day draws near, many have been inspired by President-elect Barack Obama's ascent to the White House. Since his days on the campaign trail, enthusiastic supporters have come up with their own items to show their love for Obama, from T-shirts for their babies and pets to lapel pins and neckties.

Here are a few fun, and some quirky, picks that are sure to make an appearance in Washington during the inaugural weekend:

Ojamas

ojamasdec08modelThese two-piece pajamas are emblazoned with the president-elect's campaign logo "spaced from top to bottom in an attractive step and repeat pattern," according to the Ojama Sleepwear's Website. They are also offering nightgowns with the logo pattern.

It's too late for Christmas, but the company is touting the sleepwear as the perfect ensemble in celebration of the inauguration the day before or the morning after. The company is even a co-sponsor of the Obama Pajama Party, a charity ball being held Jan. 18 at Washington's Ronald Reagan Building. Actress Carrie Fisher will host the event and the attire is black tie or, of course, pajamas.

For tickets or more information, visit Ojamas Sleepwear's Website.

Obama Jewelry

yeswecanearringsJewelry designers have made Obama their muse, with one artist is selling handmade earrings and necklaces with the president-elect's face and campaign icon. Several other artists and jewelry makers have cropped up on the Web with designs of their own, from silver versions by African American artist Jonas Perkins to do-it-yourself trinkets displayed in pictures on Flickr and other Websites.

For the ladies--and stylish gentlemen-- looking to wear their support from head to toe, earrings are available in both post and dangling versions.

Obama Sneakers
