[RECAP] Oprah’s ‘The Life You Want’ Weekend Stops In Atlanta

This past weekend Oprah Winfrey and friends visited Atlanta for a stop in her “The Life You Want” Weekend at Phillips Arena. As a guest of the Procter & Gamble for Bounty Power Meet-up, I had the privilege of experiencing this life-changing event.

“The brands that we have, Olay, Bounty & My Black is Beautiful, have similar passions with Oprah’s Tour,” said Crystal Harrell, senior manager in communications at Procter and Gamble. “The brands connect and make sure to connect power, courage, and energize women. It’s the start of a global movement that P&G wants to be apart of and to support. Olay, as a national co-sponsor, is excited about helping women be there best self.  They believe that no woman should settle for mediocrity.”

On Sept. 5, Bounty kicked off the weekend of events by hosting an exclusive the “Life You Want” Power Meet-Up and Celebrity Panel at Centennial Park. The Bounty “Life You Want” meet-up featured Nicole Jones, Karmetria Burton, and celebrity chef, Carla Hall.  The panelists empowered women to discover the potential hidden inside and how to acquire the courage to overcome obstacles.

Sept. 6 was filled with interactive workbook exercises aimed at helping you become your best self while inspiring you to live the life you want. Workbook exercises included: “Awakening to the Life You Want,” “See Your Life Today,” and “Create a New Vision.” In addition to workbook exercises she presented a group of star-studded trailblazers speak on different topics, each touching different segments of our lives: mental, spiritual, and physical. Deepak Chopra, founder of the Chopra Center, is a world-renowned pioneer in mind-body medicine and personal transformation. Chopra led the discussion “The Life You Want Meditation.”.  Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of international bestseller, Eat, Pray, Love, spoke on “The Quest” to living the life you want.  “The path to what you are, to what you want to be is an incredible journey ” Gilbert exclaimed to the packed arena.

Next, participants heard from Rob Bell who graced the stage with his talk “Everything is Spiritual”.  Time Magazine named Rob Bell one of the 100 most influential people in the world.  He taught us how to value each moment in our lives. “When despair comes knocking, stop, take a breath, and realize that every day is a miracle”. Bell proclaimed.  Last, we heard from Iyanla Vanzant, the star of OWN’s Fix My Life Series, and a spiritual life coach.  She taught us that you couldn’t fail at life unless you stop breathing, and that we should value and clean up our relationships that we have with others and the relationship we have with ourselves.

The tour was as an invigorating way to spend the weekend. There was a vibrant energy that flowed through the arena that blessed, inspired, and motivated. On a personal note: I left feeling equipped with the tools and knowledge to help me to begin living the life I want to live.
