Progressive Democrats Criticize Obama for Stating ‘Defund the Police’ Loses ‘A Big Audience’

Former President Barack Obama has always had a way to rile people up. But this time, it’s members of the Democratic Party’s progressive wing who have some choice words for Obama. According to The Hill, based on comments Obama said in an interview with Good Luck America host Peter Hamby, the “Squad” has taken notice when Obama stated that they risk losing an audience when the phrase “defund the police” is uttered.

“You lost a big audience the minute you say it, which makes it a lot less likely that you’re actually going to get the changes you want done,” Obama said. “The key is deciding, do you want to actually get something done, or do you want to feel good among the people you already agree with?”

The statement brought about a swift response from several progressive members of the Democratic Party.
