Staying On Top

I think it’s important that you talk to and work with the company, explaining to them why you’re choosing to do this and what’s happening in your life that makes this a necessity. It’s very important to have that communication. You don’t want to leave your organization guessing as to why you’re making this change. It’s also important for you to communicate that you want to continue the relationship with the organization in any way possible-that’s very, very critical. You don’t want to cut yourself off from your corporate relationship and your friends who are in business. It’s also important to stay connected with any trade organizations that you’re associated with, any designations that you have. If you’re a CPA or if you’re part of some professional organization, you need to maintain those relationships as much as possible.
