The survey of nearly 1.2 million women in Great Britain stated that the earlier you stop smoking, the better. It does not mean that it is safe to smoke until 40.
The study also warned that even those who quit before age 40 still face a 20 percent higher death rate than those who never smoked.  They found that smoking throughout adulthood cut an average of 11 years off one’s life.
These results were very similar to their findings on male smokers. Smokers are more likely to suffer from chronic lung disease, lung cancer, stroke and heart disease.
