Black Enterprise Celebrates 15 Years of Honoring the Power and Legacies of Black Women

Over the past 14 years, BLACK ENTERPRISE has celebrated the brilliance and leadership of black women. Each year at the Women of Power Summit we honor extraordinary women who lift as they climb in corporate America; in the entertainment industry; media; education; and more as Women of Power Legacy Award Recipients.

The Legacy Award recognizes extraordinary achievers who have redefined the standards of success, inspiring women of color to achieve new heights. Previous Legacy Award honorees include former Secretary of Labor Alexis Herman, former Chairman of Xerox Ursula Burns, Oscar-nominated actress Cicely Tyson, renowned poet Nikki Giovanni, distinguished journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault, and the late, great, Dorothy Height, among others. These women have done more than just defy expectations; they’ve obliterated them. Each has created a legacy that exceeds mere testaments to stellar, personal success, as they have created well-rounded lives of sterling accomplishment and dedicated service, helping others achieve as well.

Additionally, The Barbara Graves Legacy Award recognizes — which was named after the late Barbara Graves, who worked as an educator — recognizes outstanding achievement and service in education and other areas of service to young people.
