With Carver Innovation Center Opening, Cook County Gets State Of The Art Training Facility

The Carver Innovation Center, Forest Park, Illinois’, newest co-working and developmental space officially opened its doors to the public on May 13.

At the grand opening, Pastor Bill Winston said, “There’s an infinite amount of opportunities waiting and so we need a center now.” The pastor of Living Word and founder of the Joseph School continued: “We’re going to take this center and drive things to this center that will create employment opportunities that can lift the burden off some of these poor communities. We can actually bring jobs in there and have it so there’s 100% employment for everybody who wants to work.”

Named after botanist and inventor George Washington Carver, the Carver Innovation Center will offer creators, small businesses, and hobbyists creative problem-solving and product development support. For a fee, the center will also provide access to a 3-D printer; a universal laser system, which would allow people to cut and design wood, stone, glass, and more, according to the release. Located at 7600 Roosevelt Rd., The center will also offer design and equipment workshops on evenings and Saturdays.

The Carver Center is an offshoot of the Joseph Business School, the nonprofit educational arm of Living Word Christian Center, which owns the Forest Park Plaza Mall.

It is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Day passes for the center cost $25; 10-day passes cost $150; monthly passes cost $300.

The Carver Innovation Center is the manifested vision of our leader and visionary Dr. Bill Winston, named in honor of the great African-American scientist, inventor and agricultural genius, Dr. George Washington Carver. Carver said that when he entered his laboratory, which he called, “God’s Little Workshop,” he would instantly be inspired to create something new.
