QuestLove, Comedian Hannibal Buress and The Gates Foundation Among Winners at Shorty Awards

Who's who in social media, from entertainment to philanthropy, honored

On April 20 at the Times Center in New York City, the 7th Annual Shorty Awards honored the best of the best of social media, with this year’s host, actress and comedian Rachel Dratch, kicking off the evening with a hilarious video highlighting her training regimen to prepare for hosting duties.

Among top winners were music artist and producer QuestLove, comedian Hannibal Buress (of Comedy Central and Adult Swim fame), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (best charity) and bestselling author and Oprah’s Ambassador of Hope Marala Scott.

Wyclef Jean introduced popular band Panic! At the Disco who performed hits for the crowd. Other celebs who presented awards included celebrity chef and Food Network host Alton Brown, singer-musician Kevin Jonas, Johnny Weir, Thomas Sanders, Casey Neistat, Emily Kinney and Tyler Oakley.

Winners were selected by members of the Real-Time Academy of Short Form Arts & Sciences which include industry leaders such as TV star and comedian Retta, tech execs Steve Wozniak and Craig Newmark, MC Hammer, Nick Cannon, Dr. Oz and Arianna Huffington.
