WATCH: ‘Streetcar’ Star Nicole Ari Parker Talks Broadway, Family Life, and Black Hollywood

Nicole Ari Parker shines in her debut as Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire."

We’ve seen her on hit TV shows including Soul Food, All of Us, and Let’s Stay Together. We’ve also seen her on the big screen in movies including King’s Ransom, Black Dynamite and Brown Sugar.

Now she’s embarking on a new adventure as Southern belle Blanche DuBois in Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire. Taking a torch passed by lauded actresses including Vivien Leigh, Ann-Margret, and Cate Blanchette, Ari Parker sizzles in this role, part of a multicultural cast that includes Blair Underwood (The Event), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent), and Wood Harris (The Wire).

On the heels of the play being extended to August 19—and an offer to run in London—BlackEnterprise.com caught up with Ari Parker to talk inspiration for her role, family life with actor-husband (and hottie) Boris Kodjoe, and the prospect of new opportunities in Hollywood.
