News Corp. Threatens to Pull Fox Network Off Air Over Aereo Dispute
News Corp. has threatened to pull the Fox Network off the air and make it a subscription service that consumers would have to pay for if the courts are not able to protect Fox’s business from the startup Aereo.
Aereo, an online service that offers cut-rate TV subscription for consumers by capturing broadcast signals over thousands of antennas at one time, is coming under fire by the television industry which sees Aereo as a threat to its ability to control subscription fees and generate advertising income–which are its two main sources of revenue.
