Sites like Match.com are increasingly hosting meet-up events for users in its top markets, the New York Times reports. But there’s a twist: a business partnership with the board game industry to liven up events.
This week, the company is holding “Stir” game nights, where singles gather to play games like Bananagrams and Spontuneous. Match.com will host 30 of these events through the fall.
Since last May, the dating site has held more than 2,850 events that were attended by more than 225,000 singles. About 50 percent of attendees said they met someone they would like to date, says Luke Zaientz, vice president for events at Match.com.
