Coworking Space/Membership Club The Gathering Spot Transforms Black Businesses and Communities

If you’re a founder, financier or creative seeking to make the right connections or find a cutting-edge, tech-driven work environment, there’s only one place to be: The Gathering Spot. The brainchild of 28-year-old entrepreneurs Ryan Wilson and T.K. Petersen, this private membership club is in a class by itself.

Enter the jaw-dropping, 25,000-square-foot space and you’ll be awed by its layout of highly-functional workstations, concierge services, tech innovations, soundproof podcasting booths, a capacious event auditorium, and top-shelf restaurant and bar. More impressive than its ambiance is the activity housed within The Gathering Spot. It’s where business deals are made, ventures financed and community initiatives take hold—and so much more. Gaining 24/7 access to its amenities as well as those among Atlanta’s influential set comes with the privileges of membership.

The Gathering Spot was spawned after the two Georgetown graduates grew frustrated by the lack of workspaces in the Washington, D.C. area. “I would go to coffee shops and restaurants, and I would get the tap on my shoulder a lot of times and told ‘Hey it’s time for you to go,’” recalls Wilson, who also graduated from Georgetown Law School. “It was really difficult for us to find social spaces. A million conversations later, we settled on creating what the club is today, which is a private invitation-only club.

Since opening two years ago, The Gathering Spot has held more than 3,500 events, ranging from functions sponsored by tech behemoths such as Spotify, Google, and Facebook to high-profile political gatherings featuring Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams and civil rights legend, Congressman John Lewis.
