Kravitz Design to Create and Style Show Set for The Queen Latifah Show

The Lenny Kravitz led design firm, Kravitz Design Inc., has been selected by Sony Pictures Television to create and style the set for The Queen Latifah Show, which premieres September 16, 2013.

The show will film in front of a live audience in a newly refurbished soundstage on the Sony Studio lot in Culver City, CA.

While Kravitz is better know for his hits, the design firm he founded has been quietly making waves throughout the industry. Kravitz’s desire to expand his creative energies beyond making music led the rockstar-turned-entrepreneur to found Kravitz Design Inc. (KDI), which focuses on residential & commercial design, as well as product conception. The company encompasses a diverse group of creative professionals that have executed a variety of projects throughout the world.

KDI’s portfolio includes designs such as the chandeliers for Swarovski’s Crystal Palace Collection, suites at the SLS Hotel Miami Beach, and a two story penthouse recording studio at the Setai Hotel and Residences. Most recently, KDI undertook the creative vision for the downtown Miami, 47-story condominium project Paramount Bay, as well as a collection of ceramic tiles for Lea Ceramiche and the re-interpretation of Philippe Starck’s Mademoiselle chair for Kartell.

The Kravitz designed set for The Queen Latifah Show will include bold architectural features and employ a mix of materials including refined metal screens, warm woods, and organic marbles. These design elements together with an eclectic mix of furnishings will unite to create a warm and inviting environment.

“Lenny and his Kravitz Design team are designing a set that exceeds everything we ever thought possible for daytime television,” said executive producer and Overbrook Entertainment’s Jada Pinkett-Smith. “Their creation blew us away!”

“Lenny is not only an incredible musician but an incredible designer, and I almost can’t believe he is designing the set for my show,” said host Queen Latifah. “I can’t wait for people to see it.”
