This week on The Urban Business Roundtable, UBR Contributor Renita Young speaks with R. Donahue “Don” Peebles, one of the most successful entrepreneurs in America and listed among 40 “Titans: The Most Powerful African Americans in Business–and How They Shaped Our World” by Black Enterprise.
Also listed among the top 10 wealthiest African Americans by Forbes magazine, Peebles has built one of the largest black-owned real estate firms, along the way acquiring the Royal Palm Resort in Miami Beach, Florida—the first black-owned and -developed resort in the nation—to add to The Peebles Corp.’s multibillion-dollar portfolio of luxury hotels, high-rise residential and commercial properties and developments from coast to coast.
Peebles joins Young at the roundtable to share his journey to success and the entrepreneurial lessons he learned along the way. Also, he reveals the person who planted the seed of entrepreneurship that helped him to become the multimillionaire he is today.
Also on this week’s edition of The Urban Business Roundtable, our Executive Producer TaQuoya Kennedy speaks with father-and-s0n tandem Edward and Edric Callahan of Chicago’s Callahan Foundation about what it takes to build a multigenerational business legacy.
In addition, every week on UBR, you’ll get motivation and inspiration from author and entrepreneurial icon Farrah Gray, a weekly wrap-up of business news from USA Today Business Correspondent Charisse Jones, our Patient Investor Report from Ariel Investments and key economic intelligence for small business owners from our UBR Economists Derrick Collins and Rasheed Carter. And finally, I’ll talk about what entrepreneurs need to do to make the most of the last few weeks of 2010 in order to kick-off a banner year of business in 2011.
