With less than a month before the official start of the holiday shopping season, FedEx announced plans to once again support “Small Business Saturday,” an initiative by American Express to encourage customers to shop at local small businesses on November 24.
FedEx support is coming in the form of $1 million dollars given directly to consumers in the form of a Shop-Small® American Express Gift Card.
The promotion, a continuation of the company’s support of Small Business Saturday and the small business community at large, is designed to drive customers to local, independent retailers this holiday season, a time of year critical to every retailer’s success.
“America’s small businesses are a unique and vibrant part of their local communities and a critical component to the broader health of our economy,†said T. Michael Glenn, executive vice president of Market Development at FedEx. “With our support of Small Business Saturday, we’re helping raise awareness for the importance of shopping small while empowering 40,000 consumers to get engaged in their own cities and towns.â€
To this end, the company announced plans today to give away 40,000 $25 gift cards via a Facebook application. Entry for the $25 Gift Card give away will be available on the FedEx Facebook page (www.facebook.com/fedex) from 12 a.m. ET on November 1 through 11:59 a.m. ET on November 3. It takes only a few moments to enter, and requires a name, email address and mailing address. Only one entry will be accepted per Facebook ID.
In addition to the $1 million dollar giveaway, the more than 1,800 Fed Ex Office locations are extending help to small businesses who want to participate in Small Business Saturday on November 24. The copy and print retailer is offering printing of two 11×17 Small Business Saturday posters to display in their storefront.
