Michael Oher’s $15M Demand To Tuohy Family Revealed In New Court Documents

Michael Oher is being accused of extortion by the same family he’s suing for royalty payments he claims he’s owed from The Blind Side film.

New court documents from the Tuohy family accuse Oher of trying to extort them for $15 million or risk having their names dragged in the media, TMZ reports. The family claims Oher sent messages before filing the royalties suit demanding the money or else he would “defame them on social media and/or TMZ as ‘fakes’ and ‘thieves,’” the docs state.

Oher alleges he wasn’t paid his fair share of royalties from the Oscar-winning film “The Blind Side,” but the Tuohy’s claim otherwise. The new filing cites alleged texts from Oher claiming he was “robbed of fifty million+” before lowering his final offer to $10 million.

Alleged text messages show Oher threatening to put the Tuohy’s on blast unless they met a proposed deadline.

“If something isn’t resolved this Friday, I’m going to go ahead and tell the world how I was robbed by my suppose to be [sic] parents. That’s the deadline,” the alleged text states, adding, “Think how it will look when it comes out.”

The Tuohy’s claim that after they rejected the $10 million shakedown, Oher upped his price.

“It was 10 million. Now I want 15 after taxes,” the alleged text reads.

The Tuohys say the grand total of royalties from the film was $138,309.90, and that’s what each party received.

As for Oher revealing the Tuohys never legally adopted him, the Tuohys claim they still see Oher as their son despite the “vindictive and unfounded legal and reputational crusade against them.”

Oher and the Tuohys were the subjects of the blockbuster film The Blind Side, which earned Sandra Bullock an Academy Award for Best Actress and the film an Oscar for Best Picture. The movie told Oher’s story about his relationship with the Tuohy family, which helped lead him to an NFL career.
