U.S. State Department Shuts Down Email After Hack

The United States’ State Department shut down its email system on Monday in response to a possible hacking attack.

The hack happened a few weeks ago, according to the Associated Press. The House Government Oversight Committee, in a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry, asked for more information pertaining to the attack and its potential damage.

The letter from the oversight committee asked when the data breach occurred and how long it had gone undetected if at all.

Luckily, the attack only affected unclassified email systems, and didn’t manage to access any data in classified emails.
