Voters Leery of Negative Campaigns

Aside from encouraging or discouraging voter participation, McCain and Palin’s character attacks may have irresponsibly stirred up the emotions of their supporters in a manner that could cause further divisions between races, classes and religions.

Unlike Palin, McCain acted honorably last week when he would not allow one of his supporters to call Obama a terrorist. However, his ads linking Obama to Ayers continue to run.

The Republican National Committee just released an attack ad called Guilt by Participation. Unlike Ayers, Obama has never set bombs in an attempt at rebellion. But the title of this particular Web video, seeks to imply that he has.

What is it exactly that McCain wants voters to believe about Obama if the Arizona senator’s words say one thing and his videos say another?
