I wanted [my program] to be different. I want people to go to the schools with predominantly African American and Latino student populations. I want to give kids a chance to meet people who aren’t rappers, producers, ballplayers, actors, or comedians. I have to get African American kids to realize that you don’t have to have a mic in your hand to make money. The money is behind the scenes. Only a few of us will make it to the NBA, but a lot of us, with exposure to business, will see other business opportunities. That’s what my PENCIL program is about.
