Evolving in the public eye, Chris Brown has gone from teenaged heartthrob to pop music megastar to vilified brute and then repentant sinner. At the heart of his image downturn is the 2009 assault of then girlfriend, Rihanna, which showed a darker side to the talented singer/dancer/actor. Brown’s subsequent apologies, paid debt to society in the form of community service and an emotional performance of Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror” at the 2010 BET Awards seemed to have almost wiped his slate clean—that is, until last month’s Good Morning America appearance. Following an awkward and defensive interview with GMA co-host Robin Roberts, Brown threw a tantrum backstage, smashing a window at ABC’s Times Square studio in the process. Though Brown has since apologized for his behavior (again), many speculate that he’s running out of second chances and that’s bound to hit him in the pockets. BlackEnterprise.com takes a look at how all the drama has or hasn’t affected the troubled star’s money.

A tip from a trusted friend or relative, a little monetary incentive or even just the location can usually steer consumers to their bank of choice. But one look at the fine print can have potential customers re-thinking their decision. While Capitol Hill has banks scrambling to make up new revenue sources, consumers are usually the ones slighted as new fees means less banking value for your buck. With the savings rate up 5.8% in January, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis—the highest since August—it’s important to make sure the financial institution you decide to do business with is giving you the best service. Here’s a checklist of questions you should always ask to ensure you’re getting the most out of a savings or checking account.

Most may view Nicki Minaj as just another rapper/singer/performer; but the multi-faceted entertainer is much more than that, she’s a bankable brand that’s only just begun to blossom. In a few short years, Nicki has influenced trends through her music and unmistakable fashion sense, and her involvement in cosmetics, television, hair and even the floral industry (Nicki has exclusive pink collection bouquets available on flowers.com for Valentine’s Day) has helped spike sales and visibility for a number of ancillary brands. Whether her detractors like it or not, Ms. Minaj is a one-woman marketing guru. 6) The rich versus the wealthy: Chris Rock says there's a big difference between rich and wealthy. (Remember? “If Bill Gates woke up with Oprah’s money he’d jump out a [bleeping] window.”) Maybe not; but White believes the true definition is when you no longer have to work for your money; instead your money works for you, your children, your grandchildren... "If you can invest and have your money yield whatever the prevailing interest rate is on that amount at the time, say 3%, and you can live off that interest, you're on your way to being wealthy.”

Don't buy a product that doesn't meet your needs “It looks like a lot of the e-readers advertised on Black Friday sales are pretty good deals,” says Bradford. It is rumored that the Barnes and Noble Nook, which is usually $150 will be $99 just for Black Friday at Best Buy. “The only caveat is that it has WiFi and not 3G,” says Bradford. 3G is better because you can get an internet connection anywhere there is a cell phone signal, regardless of whether or not there is a WiFi signal. Also, the Nook gets free access to 3G and WiFi on AT&T’s network. “If WiFi is fine with you then that is a really good deal, says Bradford. “Most people aren’t going to need to download a book while standing out on a street corner.” But if downloading a book on the fly is your thing then you might want to spend more for 3G. Leading up to Black Friday stay informed about new models that are soon to be released. A lot of brands will be releasing newer models towards the end of this year and the beginning of the next year. If having the latest product is important to you, don’t buy an older version just because it is on sale.
