A Lifelong History: It used to be acceptable to chronologically list every job you ever had on your resume. However, today’s hiring managers are more concerned about the relevance of your experience rather than the length of your experience. For an experienced professional, listing your first job out of high school isn’t really necessary unless it’s the only job you’ve ever had. While 10 years of work history is the standard, it’s okay to list older experience if it is relevant.

5. Choose a social media strategy—and work it daily. Not being on Twitter and Facebook is no longer an option for serious entrepreneurs. A social media presence is no substitute for a real marketing strategy for your business. On the other hand, in 2011, no marketing strategy is complete without an on-purpose, faithfully executed social media strategy. And if you have zero social media engagement, the time to start is now.
