Gold medal-winning Olympian Gabby Douglas graces the cover of Essence Magazine’s Women of the Year issue.
The bright-eyed teenager became the first African American in history to win a gold medal in individual all-around gymnastics.
A second cover of the special issue features Douglas alongside track and field gold medalists Allyson Felix, Carmelita Jeter and Sanya Richards-Ross. Other women in the issue include First Lady Michelle Obama and Trayvon Martin’s mother Sybrina Fulton.
