Russell Simmons is a lover of books. Not only did he recently release Super Rich: A Guide to Having it All, but the mogul (who is featured in the February 2011 issue of Black Enterprise) keeps his bookshelves jam packed with interesting reads. I took a peek while waiting for the crew to get the lights set for our Power Player interview with Simmons for the Black Enterprise Business Report and took note of what was there. Along with three Buddha statues, an ’80s hip-hop bobble head (complete with pseudo-Kangol and Adidas), a photo of his daughters, Ming Lee and Aoki Lee, with Oprah, and a bonsai tree that’s seen better days, Simmons’ office shelves offers a window into his soul—and his favorite reads. Here are 10 great books on Russell Simmons’ shelf. Tastemaker that he is, if Simmons loves it, it’s almost guaranteed to please!--Caroline Clarke

6) The rich versus the wealthy: Chris Rock says there's a big difference between rich and wealthy. (Remember? “If Bill Gates woke up with Oprah’s money he’d jump out a [bleeping] window.”) Maybe not; but White believes the true definition is when you no longer have to work for your money; instead your money works for you, your children, your grandchildren... "If you can invest and have your money yield whatever the prevailing interest rate is on that amount at the time, say 3%, and you can live off that interest, you're on your way to being wealthy.”

The Twitterverse is constantly buzzing with an outlined play-by-play on the latest in news, entertainment and trending topics—to name a few on the long list of online conversation starters. Of course, with all that chatter it's easy to block out a lot of it, but within all the noise there's still a large percentage that catches your attention in one way or another. To make sure you're not missing out on the valuable commentary and comments online, BlackEnterprise.com will now curate the tweets throughout the week that staffers think were worth taking note of, whether an expert, celebrity or even you masterminded the tweet. Timelines flooded with mentions about Oprah Winfrey’s newly-launched cable network, OWN, on Jan. 1. Although the initial sky-high ratings—approximately 1 million prime-time viewers—have declined, the network is moving towards its goal of providing the audience with 600 hours of original programming. In this version of BE Tweets of the Week, there was no shortage of tweets either embracing or throwing shade Oprah’s way. —Janel Martinez
