Amy Barnett, managing editor at Time Inc.’s Teen People for the past two years, has stepped down from that post to move to the company’s magazine development department. Lori Majewski, a Teen People veteran who was executive editor at Wenner Media L.L.C.’s Us Weekly, took over. Barnett, the first African American to head a major consumer magazine at Time, spearheaded a redesign of Teen People in 2003. One of 50 professionals under 40 featured on BE’s Hot List in 2003, Barnett is also working on an advice book for young women to be published in 2007.

Ford Motor Co.’s Darryl Hazel is settling into his new post as vice president of marketing, giving him control over marketing activities for the Ford and Lincoln Divisions of the automaker’s cars and trucks. Named the BLACK ENTERPRISE Corporate Executive of the Year in September, while he was vice president of Ford Motor Co. and president of the Ford Division, Hazel says his primary challenge is to conceive a strategy that complements both Ford and Lincoln Mercury products. “What may be good for one may not be good for the others,” says Hazel. “When you have a job like this, I’m often playing the role of provocateur and someone who may be a resource base for those doing the day-to-day work so we can bring out the best approach for each brand.” — Marc Hopkins
