5. Jackson Securities L.L.C.


Atlanta-based investment bank Jackson Securities was led by two of the BE 100s most legendary business leaders: Maynard Jackson and the late Ron Brown. Jackson, Atlanta’s first African American Mayor, founded the investment bank firm in 1987. Under his leadership, the firm grew to become one the nation’s largest black-owned investment banks. The company specializes in finance and wealth management.

Brown, then CEO, played an instrumental role in supporting Atlanta Life’s financial services facelift when the company merged with Jackson Securities in 2007. Under his leadership, Atlanta Life emerged as an asset management, insurance, and investment bank powerhouse.
