Apple announced on Monday that it’s App Store reached 40 billion app downloads, and that number doesn’t include re-downloads or updates. What makes the feat even more noteworthy is the fact that half of those downloads took place in 2012 alone.

Apple opened the App Store in July of 2008. It took one year for the store to hit 1 billion downloads.
