Beyoncé Announced Her Next Move: Build a Cannabis Farm

Global entertainment icon Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is spreading her wings and entering the cannabis industry. The R&B queen announced that she is building a hemp and honey farm to obtain her own CBD.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, “Queen B” discussed how she discovered CBD. She also shares the benefits it has produced.

“I discovered CBD on my last tour, and I’ve experienced its benefits for soreness and inflammation,” she said. “It helped with my restless nights and the agitation that comes from not being able to fall asleep.”

Beyoncé Makes Mental Health a Priority

Beyoncé has been on the move lately and prioritizing her health has been top of mind. She shares the importance of going beyond the diet. The 40-year old Grammy-winning artist has placed a greater emphasis on mental health during this season of her life.

“During quarantine, I went from overindulgences to creating positive rituals drawing from past generations and putting my own spin on things,” she revealed. “I found healing properties in honey that benefit me and my children.”

She adds, “And I’m so happy that my daughters will have the example of those rituals from me. One of my most satisfying moments as a mom is when I found Blue one day soaking in the bath with her eyes closed, using blends I created and taking time for herself to decompress and be at peace.”

Beyoncé deserves all the mental relaxation that she can get her hands on. She’s the mother to nine-year-old Blue Ivy and four-year-old twins Rumi and Sir. This year she broke the all-time record for most Grammy wins by a female artist.

“As an artist, I believe it’s my job and all of our jobs to reflect the times and it’s been such a difficult time,” Beyoncé said during her acceptance speech. “So I wanted to uplift, encourage and celebrate all of the beautiful Black queens and kings that continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world.”

Beyoncé Explores the Cannabis Industry

Beyoncé’s ambitions as a cannabis farm owner and advocate may be another source of inspiration for many. Last year, Beyoncés BeyGood organization partnered with the NAACP to provide new small business grants for Black-owned businesses. A $10,000 grant was given to The Gift – a  Maryland-based natural health and wellness cannabis company that was founded in 2018.

“Companies in the legal cannabis industry face higher costs for just about everything from insurance to
banking, even if they are working strictly with hemp, not marijuana,” said Cory Moore, co‐founder and
CEO of The Gift in a written statement sent to BLACK ENTERPRISE.

He adds, “Banks are reluctant to lend to us because the regulations around hemp are new and still developing in some respects. Black‐owned businesses are challenged even further when it comes to financing. This grant from NAACP and Beyoncé has made us feel seen, and we are grateful to them for the opportunities we will create with these funds.”

As Beyoncé is branching out to lead her first cannabis venture, she’ll have a wealth of knowledge around her to support her endeavors. Recently, Beyoncé’s husband,  Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, launched his premium cannabis brand Monogram.
