In the middle of putting out a secret album and touring the world with her family in tow, Beyoncé continues to prove that she hasn’t forgotten her roots.
Not one to broadcast every boss move she makes, the Houston native has reportedly given $7 million over the past few years to help the homeless back in her home city. Her donations have benefited the Knowles-Temenous Place Apartments, which is a complex she built in 2007 in response to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The complex has space to house 43 individuals who are on the verge of being homeless, offering them meals, job readiness training, HIV/AIDS screenings, case management services, and more.
Beyoncé’s pastor, Rudy Rasmus, praised the superstar for her philanthropic work and generous contributions to the church and the community.
“She’s an incredible human being. Has an incredible heart and has been extremely helpful in our mission and our ministry here,” Rasmus tells KHOU 11 News.
