Black History Month: Susan E. Rice, U.S. National Security Advisor


U.S. National Security Advisor Susan E. Rice coordinates intelligence, foreign policy, and military effort; oversees the National Security Council staff; and chairs the cabinet-level National Security Principals Committee. Prior to her current position Rice was appointed in 2009 as the United States Ambassador of the United Nations, making her the first African American woman to hold the position.
