Blackboard Accepts the #PayMyTuitionChallenge with New Scholarship Program

With the ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge” raising more than $80 million as of Aug. 26, and making the hashtags #icebucketchallenge, #alsicebucketchallenge, and #strikeoutals trend on social media, a new hashtag that supports another cause that is also dear to the hearts of many Americans is now trending on Twitter.

With the start of a new school year and with college tuition steadily rising, ordinary citizens are calling on everyone from celebrities, to community leaders and the government to help them pay for college with the hashtag #paymytuitionchallenge surfacing social networks. More than 24 hours have past for many of the challenges, and it’s clear that the chances of getting a response is zero to none, but that doesn’t mean that all hope is lost.

Thanks to Blackboard, college students can still have a shot at getting their #payformytuitionchallenge accepted, with the education company creating a new scholarship program specifically in response to the challenge. In order to enter the competition, all you have to do is submit a video, photo or written response answering the question “How will you use your education to make the world a better place?” and the individual with the most votes will receive help toward their tuition. The most-voted on response will win a $15,000 scholarship, while the two runner-ups will each receive $5,000.

To learn more about how you can win the scholarship visit Blackboard’s blog site here. Submissions are being accepted until noon on Friday, Aug. 29.
