Google Rolls Out Person Finder Following Boston Marathon Explosions

Google launches Person Finder to assist in Boston marathon explosions on Monday afternoon. Reports are still coming in regarding the two explosions that rocked the finish line of the race and a reported third explosion that went off at the John F. Kennedy Library. Officials are reporting that two people are dead and dozens are being treated for injuries, according to The Boston Globe.

The specialized person Finder is designed to help those looking for missing loved ones. The homepage is showing it’s tracking about 800 records, according to Mashable.

To use Person Finder, enter information on the person you’re looking for, or plug in any details you may have on the individuals not already accounted for. All submissions remain available for public search and viewing.

Person Finder was first developed in response to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, and has since rolled out to several other natural disaster zones such as the massive 2011 earthquake in Turkey and the tsunami in Japan earlier that year. Google Person Finder is a sector of Google Crisis Response.
