According to reports, recording artist CeeLo Green is continuing to pay for the price for his comments regarding rape and women on his Twitter page. CeeLo was recently charged with raping a woman and drugging her with ecstasy in 2012. Allegedly, Green spiked the woman’s drink at a restaurant in Los Angeles, and the next morning she woke up naked in his hotel room. He pleaded no contest to charges he supplied the woman with ecstasy, earlier this month.

Under the plea, CeeLo was sentenced to three years of probation and 360 hours of community service. Last week, he sparked outrage when he tweeted “people who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!,” among other comments. He compared rape to a home invasion, and implied that women are only raped if conscious. “When someone breaks in on a home there is broken glass. Where is your plausible proof anyone was raped?” he wrote. “If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! So WITH implies consent.” The singer, who is most recently known for being a judge on the hit show “The Voice,” issued an apology.

Subsequently, the second season of his TV show The Good Life was canceled by TBS. Reports indicate it was due to poor ratings, but a petition from women’s rights group UltraViolet had “called for TBS to get rid of the show in light of Green’s tweets.

Things have continued spiraling downward for his career, as he has reportedly been dropped from the Louisiana’s Gretna Heritage Festival in October, among another upcoming festival he was due to perform in. Freedom Live, which is a Navy-sponsored show in Washington D.C., also pulled the plug, announcing on their Facebook that he was insensitive with his Twitter comments. Green says the tweets had been “taken so far out of context” and that he would “never condone harm of any women.” Unfortunately for him, fans have not taken his comments lightly and the reaction to his newest apology hasn’t been accepted.
