Colts Sign Cancer Survivor Andrew McDonald

When Andrew McDonald had his required NFL physical exam in May, he told doctors that he noticed a “little bump” on his testicle, reported ESPN.com. He learned that the “little bump” was testicular cancer, while he was going through the Carolina Panthers’ offseason program. Luckily, the cancer was caught before it spread. He was signed to Carolina’s practice squad on Oct. 21, and later plucked from the roster.

Most recently, the Indiana Colts has agreed to terms with McDonald, the team announced on Dec. 2. The Indianapolis native attended college in his hometown. He started in 26 games for Indiana, and graduated with a degree in general studies in Dec. of 2011.
