Could Bobby Jindal’s New Tax Plan Hurt Louisiana’s Poor?


Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is proposing ending Louisiana’s state individual and corporate income taxes but raising sales and excise taxes, Business Insider reports.

Jindal wants to increase the state sales tax to as high as seven percent.

But analysts say making the primary state tax a consumption tax rather than an income tax could potentially cause the poor and less mobile to pay more as consumers confined to Louisiana.
