Ever wonder why you haven’t heard back from the tons of jobs you’ve applied to? It may not be because your resume was terrible. It just didn’t wow them. It was just like the other hundreds or even thousands of resumes that employers receive. Spice things up a bit with these elements that attract prime employers to a candidate:

Create a buzz: Enhance your resume with action verbs and phrases, such as “spearheaded,””developed,” or “headed.” These are powerful words that are used to describe the action you took at work, or to help you to powerfully describe what you accomplished. Also, be sure to include the buzz words exclusive to your industry so that when resumes are searched, your’s can be in the rankings.

Show innovative initiative: Tailor your resume for the position that you want and the company you’re contacting. Add in elements that directly relate to the prospective employer. Eliminate details and duties that don’t focus on skills the potential employer seeks.

Flex your digital savvy: Adding hyperlinks to your work on your resume shows that you’re Web savvy as well as makes it easy for potential employers to learn more about your accomplishments. Tweak your resume so it’s easy to scan, upload and download. Find ways to incorporate digital elements such as interactive presentations or videos.
