King later revealed that Shalamar had been on life support before she passed away.

On August 13, the grieving mom took to Twitter to elaborate on the “perspective” that her daughter’s death had given her.

“Death keeps it real & puts things in perspective,” she wrote. “I never imagined having to make the decision to either keep my daughter on permanent life support or allow her to pass naturally as the free spirit she was in peace & with dignity. I’m grateful the answer was clear.”

As the news of Shalamar’s death spread, fans showed their support and offered the 50-year-old Spanish Town, Jamaica native, prayers and words of encouragement.

Shalamar’s cause of death hasn’t been determined. As King continues to process her grief, we extend our heartfelt prayers to the singer during this time.
