First Lady Michelle Obama Sends a Message to Her Younger Self

As part of her #DearMe campaign, First Lady Michelle Obama delivered a video message to herself with the mission to inspire and empower young people.

“Dear Michelle, stop worrying so much about getting things wrong,” FLOTUS said to her younger self in the beginning of the video. “Success has nothing to do with perfection. Stop being nervous. Raise you hand. Use your voice. Get it wrong. Learn from you mistakes and keep moving on.”

First Lady released the video Thursday while in Tokyo, Japan for her Let Girls Learn initiative, which works to open the doors of education for young girls around the world. While in Japan, she plans to meet with local officials and speak to a group of Japanese university students about her own educational background and experiences. After Japan, she will travel to meet with the first lady of Cambodia, Mrs. Bun Rany, and speak to high school students there about the educational opportunities they are offered.
