African American women are the fastest growing group of entrepreneurs in the country, and 61% of black women have given birth.

These two factors account for a major need to provide resources for a group of women who continue to impact the economy and society as a whole, and the Global Connections for Women Foundation (GC4W) seeks to offer this with a free Atlanta event for working moms and mommypreneurs.

The GC4W Atlanta Working Mom Business Expo will host industry and civic leaders to empower and enlighten working mothers Oct. 3 at the Georgia World Conference Center in Atlanta. Mayor Kasim Reed will be a featured guest, and more VIPs from across the globe will participate in motivational talks and panels on topics including entrepreneurship and career development.

“The GC4W Atlanta Working Mom Business Expo is a rare opportunity to educate working moms, women business entrepreneurs, and prospective entrepreneurs on what it takes to be the next corporate leader, how to successful launch your business and/or learn how to continue to stay relevant in business without [losing] your tenacity,” said GC4W Founder Lilian Ajayi.

“We have an outstanding list of successful corporate and business leaders coupled with entrepreneurs who are prepared to share their stories. We have also partnered with Mayor Kasim Reed’s Women Entrepreneurship Initiative in Atlanta to host a workshop at the GC4W Expo to provide women business owners with additional resources.”

The free event is set to function as a networking forum, entrepreneur fair, and education seminar, all in one event. Keynoting the event is millennial financial fitness innovator Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche, and other speakers include Carla Stephens, entrepreneur and star of Bravo’s Mother Funders; Kimberly Hairston, chief marketing officer at DRM-JPC Brands, and more. Sponsors and partners include Macy’s, UN Women, Johnson & Johnson, and more.
