Michael ‘Blue’ Williams Gun Buyback Program Accepted by NYPD

When it comes to giving back, few talk, even fewer do. Bronx-born Hip Hop executive, Michael ‘Blue’ Williams, who has proposed a gun buyback program, “Guns for Greatness,” had the initiative approved by New York Police Department commissioner, Raymond Kelly.

“A lot of these kids are going to want to get into music,” Williams told the Daily News on Saturday. “It’s about galvanizing the hip-hop community to help and use our influence to make it happen.”

The Hip-Hop mogul, founder of Family Tree Entertainment, hopes to influence other industry contacts to participate in the program. In exchange for giving in weapons, men from ages 16 to 37 will receive cash, internships and possibly incentives like concert tickets and name-brand music gear.

The first buyback event will be held Saturday in Brooklyn, NY at Christian Cultural Center, 12020 Flatlands Ave., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
