Valerie Jarrett, senior advisor to President Barack Obama and chair of the White House Council on Women and Girls, has released an article on LinkedIn on why paid leave should be a worker’s right rather than a privilege. One of President Obama’s many goals is to support working parents in their personal life.
Today, Obama will call on Congress to pass the Healthy Families Act, which would allow millions of working Americans to earn up to seven days each year of paid sick time. It would also call on states and cities to pass similar laws. In fact, 43 million private sector workers in our country are without sick leave. Jarrett shares her personal thoughts on the issue.
