Isaiah Washington Plays the D.C. Sniper in ‘Blue Caprice’

The Root sat down for an in-depth Q&A with former Grey’s Anatomy actor Isaiah Washington to talk about his triumphant return to film in “Blue Caprice,” a biopic about the D.C. Sniper John Allen Muhammad.

In the interview, Washington reveals what he’s been doing the past six years away from the spotlight, and the controversy surrounding his abrupt departure.

“I’m interested in doing projects that will change cinema as we know it,” says Washington, who also serves as executive producer of the film. “…I wanted to come back with ownership, I wanted to come back with something that I wanted to do, as opposed to what agents or managers are expecting me to do. I get to pick and choose, and this story hurt me; it embarrassed me.”

“Blue Caprice” premiered at Sundance this year to positive reviews.
