Bridging Access to Care (BAC), a multi-service nonprofit health agency based in Brooklyn, New York, has partnered with leading furniture and mattress retailer Raymour & Flanigan to host ‘Saving Our Homes, Saving Our Lives’ in honor of World AIDS Day and #Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back.
The charity awards benefit, which aims to raise awareness of the challenges of low-income and formerly homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS in New York City, will be held on Tuesday, December 1, at the Raymour & Flanigan showroom in Brooklyn.

“Thirty-five percent of all people living with HIV/AIDS in New York City are homeless or unstably housed. And 60% experience homelessness or unstable housing at least three times over the course of their illness,” said BAC’s Executive Director Glenda G. Smith in a press release statement. “Our job is to help our clients overcome the persistent barriers and give them the quality care they desperately need. With the support of people like Raymour & Flanigan and #GivingTuesday to help us spread the word, we know that our clients can truly benefit from our housing programs.â€

Bridging Access to Care will present The World AIDS Day Humanitarian Award this year to Academy Award-nominated actress/activist Rosie Perez,Â POZ MagazineÂ and poz.com, the nation’s leading publication and website about HIV/AIDS and the most trusted source for all health professionals, advocates, and communities of people living with HIV or affected by HIV/AIDS.
During the awards ceremony, a special posthumous tribute will be given to Dr. Beny J. Primm, recognized as one of the world’s foremost experts on HIV and AIDS and one of the founding members of the Brooklyn AIDS Task Force, now known as Bridging Access to Care.
