LG Launches Laptops and Services for a New Generation of Diverse Entrepreneurs

When you think of “LG” you tend to think of products for consumers: phones, tablets, TVs, and monitors. The South Korean corporation is now making a foray into the small business market—specifically targeting startup founders and entrepreneurs with a new lineup of notebooks as well as a new partnership with WeWork.

At a recent event, LG unveiled its 15-inch next-generation LG gram 15Z980 notebook. It features the latest Intel Core i7 processor as well as an SSD that supports 1 TB of storage—and there is a slot to add a second SSD.

The 15Z980 is lightweight at 2.4 pounds and ships with 16GB DDR4 memory. The suggested price on this device is $1,999.99. The 15Z980 is the top-tier model of the new gram lineup. LG also offers a mid-tier offering for $1,549.99 and an entry-level notebook for $1,399.99.

In addition, LG announced it will establish “LG gram Lounges” in WeWork coworking spaces in New York City and Los Angeles. WeWork members will receive discounts on LG gram notebooks loaded with a business version of Windows 10.

The LG gram Lounges will also be the spot for “lunch and learn” session for entrepreneurs. These sessions will offer instruction in business, design, technology, and more topics. WeWork members can also test-drive LG’s latest technology in the lounges. There will also be a monthly giveaway of a gram notebook.

“The next generation of emerging leaders is redefining what professional looks and sounds like,” said David VanderWaal, senior vice president of marketing for LG Electronics USA. “Through this new initiative, we’ll empower aspiring entrepreneurs by providing access to knowledge, a physical space, and—most importantly—the tech they need to turn their passions into professional careers.”

The participating WeWorks are theWeWork Times Square in New York and WeWork Manhattan Beach in LA.
