Macy’s Celebrates Black History Month With Panel of Culture and Fashion Influencers

National department store Macy’s is celebrating Black History Month with a series of in-store events featuring a panel of African American luminaries who are pioneering the next generation of activists and style innovators. Actress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, most known for her role on the Emmy Award-winning TV series, Friday Night Lights and her upcoming role on the TV series, Underground, will host each Black History Month event at several Macy’s locations throughout the month.

The first event kicks off on February 3, in New York City at Macy’s Herald Square featuring Grammy Award-winning artist Monica, TV personality Terrence J. Jenkins, and special guest host, Fashion Editor of Essence, Joiee Thorpe. According to Macy’s website, panelists will take an entertaining look at the next wave of African American cultural luminaries and taste-makers. Following the discussion, guests can enjoy a special reception with hors d’oeuvres, specialty cocktails provided by Cîroc Vodka, and live music. Plus, guests can get a chance to meet the talent and snap a photo with them. Lastly, enjoy a behind-the-scenes trailer of Jurnee’s new show Underground on WGN America, and with any $25 Macy’s purchase receive a copy of Monica’s new album.
