Reports of Man Intentionally Spreading HIV Turns out to be Hoax

A news report that spread like wildfire on the Internet about a man intentionally infecting hundreds of men and women with HIV turned out to be a hoax, according to the Examiner.

Isaac Don Burks was allegedly was maliciously sleeping with people in the Tri-State area to infect them. After red flags arose from the original source of the report, the Examiner contacted the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where the assistant press secretary confirmed the report was false.

Don Burks took to Facebook to address the hoax.

“I pray for the person or persons responsible for creating a false story about me,” he said. “I am not a person who would intentionally bring pain and hurt to anyone’s life.”

The identity of the person responsible for the hoax has not been determined.
