Masters Of The Deal

Huntsville, Alabama-based Tec-Masters Inc. recently landed a two-year, $26.8 million service contract with Naval Air Warfare Training Systems, a training and technical division of the U.S. Navy. The burgeoning company first appeared on the BE INDUSTRIAL/SERVICE 100 list last year at No. 55 with $68 million in sales.

The company will provide military live training, system development, logistics support, technical assistance, and other performance enhancement strategies for the division. The NAVAIR contract will account for 60% of Tec-Masters’ business, reveals Larry Reed, vice president for operations at Tec-Masters.

Marvin Carroll, president and chief executive officer of Tec-Masters, says the contract is one of the largest his company has acquired since graduating from the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) certification in 1999. In the program, minority-owned firms become eligible to receive federal set-aside contracts. “We are delighted to be able to provide NAVAIR with our technical service and expertise,” Carroll says. “The contract will enable us to remain a leader in the field of information technology systems training and support.”

Reed says the company will provide some services on site at the NAVAIR corporate training center in Orlando, Florida, and at other Tec-Masters facilities. In addition to its corporate headquarters in Alabama, Tec-Masters has offices in Florida, Missouri, Georgia, and Oklahoma.
