Introducing Shartia Brantley …

“I believe in living in expectancy,” says Women of Power wealth correspondent, Shartia Brantley. “One of my favorite affirmations include ‘if God gives the vision, he makes the provisions.”  A Georgia peach, Brantley is all about following her faith and visions. Making a choice to switch careers and move to New York in 2006, she went from working at UPS in supply chain management to becoming a long-time producer for NBC and CNBC. With numerous degrees to her name, she’s a graduate of Albany State University holding a BS in Accounting; Ohio State University, with a MBA in Operations and Logistics Management; and Columbia University where she gained a MS in Broadcast Journalism. Specializing in business, specializing on finance, Brantley rose through the ranks of the broadcasting world from being an intern on the CBS Evening News, to news associate with NBC where she conducted man on the street interviews for the Today show, to CNBC where she wrote articles for thegrio.com and pieces on hot stocks for CNBC.com.

Along with writing, she conducted TV segments as a CNBC producer featuring interviews with CEOs, elected officials, economists, small businesses, market strategists and fund managers. Mentoring youth and moderating panels like NBC Universal’s Black Professional Alliance, if you check Shartia’s Twitter page you’ll find a wealth of knowledge and motivation from affirmations to business news updates. “Mentoring is very important,” says Brantley, who will translate all of her knowledge and motivation into segments on Women of Power TV’s “Power of the Purse” segment. “Power comes in different forms. It’s not just about money or position. Power is the ability to influence, to encourage, to inspire. Power is the ability to have a positive impact on others. If you do this, no matter what your personal definition of success is, you will be successful.”
